Private patient: No, if you are a private patient (i.e. paying for the treatment yourself) then you do not need a Doctors Referral.

What do I need to bring with me?

  • Doctors Referral for WorkCover, EPC and DVA patients.

  • Medical examination results (X-Ray, ultrasound films etc.) if you have any as these may be useful to your physio to speed up your recovery.

  • Your health fund card if applicable

  • Means of paying for your consult – i.e. cash, debit or credit card.

  • Your joggers if you have a back/lower limb injury

  • If you are a WorkCover patient, please have your Claim Number, employer and WorkCover insurance company details to hand.

What should I wear?

We recommend that you wear loose fitting and comfortable clothing for your treatment. If you have a lower limb or knee injury wear loose fitting shorts or tracksuit bottoms you can roll up. If you exercise or play a sport and have a lower limb or back injury, it would be helpful for your treatment to bring your joggers with you, so we can check they are the best ones for you.

What if I am running late or need to cancel?

Please call us as soon as you can if you need to cancel an appointment and we can re-schedule another appointment to suit you. If you are running late, please give us a quick ring - we may still be able to get you in.

How long will my appointment be?

Your physio session will be 45-60 minutes long.

What can I expect from my initial consultation?

We will ask several questions about the injury to get a full history of the problem. We will examine the area in question and may refer you for further medical examinations if needed.

Can I get orthotics at your practice?

Yes, you can. Matt Sharpe is experienced in custom made orthotics.

How many sessions will I need to recover?

In your initial consultation we will outline your program and how many sessions we think it will take you to recover. This will also include exercises for you to do at home to aid recovery and prevent further injuries.

My doctor has given me a referral to see another Physiotherapist; can I still come to your clinic?

Yes you can, you are entitled to choose your own physio. Let us know your referring doctor and we will let them know that you have commenced treatment with us.
